Biography
Jae Lew is a media artist and filmmaker. Their practice is situated at a place of visibility and invisibility; their work deals with spirituality, disability, gender and the absurdity of the constructs in which we live under. Jae is the founder of EMO (Experimental Media Outsiders) Collective, an experimental media and analog filmmaking artist collective.

"What Came Before" is a short experimental documentary filmed within Mount Pleasant and Chinatown on unceded Coast Salish Territories, also known as Vancouver, BC. Jae Lew and Caroline So Jung Lee created double exposures on a single 16mm roll, exploring the diversity of Asian experiences and transformations made visible through the natural world.
