Shlomo Slutzky

A group of inhabitants of a small Czech town are rebuilding a destroyed synagogue, at the same time trying to give it a new lease of life. A contemporary story of the Jewish identity in one of the least religious countries of the world.

After 35 years as a journalist in Israel, Sergio Slutzky returns to Argentina to cover the trials of former General Menéndez for crimes against humanity, and rediscovers the traces of his fellow Jewish militants who suffered the consequences of the genocidal dictatorship.

Argentine-Israeli journalist Shlomo Slutzky meets Argentine-Dutch journalist Mariano Slutzky, who turns out to be the son of Sami, Shlomo's cousin, a doctor imprisoned in 1968 for his participation in the guerrilla movement and disappeared by the civil-military dictatorship in 1977. Mariano and his sister Alejandra have few memories of him: some letters and drawings made in prison, through which he sought to educate them for the new times to come. Mariano accuses his relatives of abandoning them. Shlomo searches for these relatives to admit their lack of commitment and Mariano's forgiveness, but the scars of the past are difficult to overcome.

Tomer Slutzky accompanies Shlomo, his father, in pursuit of Aníbal Gauto, suspected of crimes against humanity in Argentina in the seventies, protected by Israeli authorities for reasons that go back to the close relationship between the two countries during the last dictatorship.

Shlomo Slutzky, an Argentinian immigrant to Israel, tries to discover what happened to his cousin Samuel after he was disappeared by the state during the Argentinian military regime of the 1970s. Shlomo's journey within Israel takes a sharp turn after he locates Interpol fugitive Anibal Teodoro Gauto, suspected of being one of Samuel’s murderers. Shlomo decides to fight for Gauto’s extradition to Argentina for trial. To his surprise, he meets fierce opposition from the state, determined to keep Gauto protected and prevent the unveiling of dark secrets from the past. Tomer Slutzky, Shlomo’s son, follows his father’s fight for justice against this alleged murderer of his cousin. What began as a father and son's discovery of a family secret turns into an investigative drama and public affair both in Israel and Argentina.
