Soldier of Orange, Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden, Havinck, Paul Verhoeven, Frans Weisz, Joop van den Ende and Barbra Streisand. There's one man who connects this all: Gijs Versluys. The documentary 'Gijs' focusses on his career and everything he has meant for Dutch film and television from the 60's up until the late 90's. Through personal stories from his inner circle, including famous film directors Paul Verhoeven and Frans Weisz, we are given a look into the life of film of this man. With every film and project, we get to know him better: who Gijs was and what he has done for the film and his surroundings. His unique way of producing makes that he was able to accomplish so many great things. It is a personal approach of an important period in Dutch film and TV. By highlighting the life of Gijs Versluys, we find out how much he has meant for the careers of many.

Burgler and master safe-cracker Glimmie is asked to find a young woman called Fanny by her rich stepfather Van Borsen. However, Glimmie remains suspicious of the man and decides that Fanny has to be protected by him and his pal 'De Bonk'. He is soon proved correct and winds up a scapegoat in Van Borsen's scheme. After his release from prison, Glimmie plans his revenge with some help from a young cleaning girl called Slofje.

When his wife Lydia commits suicide, succesful attorney Robert Havinck is freed from his unhappy marriage. Unfortunately, it turns out she took a complete stranger along with her, and a feeling of guilt and curiosity about her motives lead Havinck to team up with his fifteen-year old daughter to explore Lydia's final days.

It seems that misdeeds by inhabitants of the Dutch provinces make for believable stories, whether they are mysteries by Willem van de Wettering, or psychological thrillers by Simon Vestdijk, who wrote the book this film is based on. In the story, set in the 1950s, Hendrik Grond (Gijs Scholten van Aschat) has a good law practice, and a happy marriage which has produced a son. He is so contented that his world is completely shattered when, undetected, he catches his wife in bed with his law firm's senior partner. In fact, he has become quietly unhinged, and he arranges a series of "accidents" to ensure his revenge - becoming involved in the local underworld in the process. Will he succeed in committing a series of "perfect" crimes, or will the police inspector (Johan Simons) investigating these incidents get wise?

A young artist becomes transfixed by two identical women who are two halves of the same person.

Nine year old Finn lives with his father in a small town. Together with his best friend Erik he plays football, but he prefers to play music. His dad wants him to play football, just like every other kid his age. Finn does not understand why, but his father doesn't want to talk about it. When Finn meets a mysterious old man, who plays the violin beautifully, he decides to learn how to play the violin as well. The old man teaches him, while Finn's dad thinks he is playing football... Is Finn the only one who sees the magic of music? What does his father hide?

Instead of a bourgeois life with grocer's son Gerrit van Buren, she chooses for an adventurous life with toutman Jan Meier. In 1939, Charlotte Salomon leaves Berlin to seek refuge at her grandparents' villa in the south of France. A little later, war breaks out, and Charlotte must, besides forgetting all she left behind, deal with her grandmother's depression, and her mother's suicide. To fight despair, Charlotte starts to paint, producing over one thousand images. "Is my life real, or is it theater?" This is the title she gives her body of work, which highlights her former life in Berlin. She finds herself though her art, but in 1943 is deported to Germany and Auschwitz.

Nico and Leo are getting married. Their entire family and both their exes are in attendance. Some of these are performing musical numbers on stage. But memories of the war and the fact that Leo's mother died in a concentration camp keeps coming to the forefront.

Six friends from college in post-war Europe form a bond. Thirty years on, one of them writes a book on it, calling it the tombstone to their friendship, exposing their bond, analyzing, then totally destroying the false imprints of their alleged connections. A final get-together brings it all out into the open. Based on J.J. Voskuil's novel "Bij Nader Inzien".

Rick Lemming (Rijk de Goyer) lives in the heart of Amsterdam, where he holds a dovecote and a saloon with slot machines. His best friend Ed Svaan, the champion of karate in the Netherlands, is deeply in love with singer Lily (Sylvia Christelle). With the help of Ed, Lilly concludes a contract with a television director who assures everyone that he will make a high-profile film. Rijk wants to check where his boyfriend and girlfriend are being drawn in and secretly watches the shootings. In fact, a pornographic film is being shot.

Following 'Leedvermaak' (Schadenfreude) from 1989 and 'Qui vive' from 2001, the trilogy is now complete with 'Happy end'. Frans Weisz directed, Judith Herzberg wrote. A family history in which three generations of a Jewish family each struggle in their own way...

Tim, now a respectable family man, runs into his old buddy Bodde. Bodde convinces Tim to go out with him under the motto: "Laugh, laugh, laugh!" Tim calls his wife to tell her "he'll be a little late," while Bodde keeps persuading him to stay with him for a new deal or a wonderful plan, and so they roam the country. Along the way, they swindle money from everyone and meet the young, beautiful Aafke. Isn't Tim too old for all this?

The characters from Leedvermaak have fared twelve years later. Lea's first husband, Alexander, makes a sequel to the wedding film and shows us the familiar characters and how they have fared. Dory, Nico's first wife, is pregnant. The father of the child is Simon, Lea's father. Nico has fallen into crisis and decides to resign as hospital director. He retreats to the farm where he hid during the war. Hans, Nico's best friend, is married to Pien. After fathering seven children, he flees this marriage. Nico's father, Zwart, increasingly isolates himself from the world; he reads and rereads the camp letters from his first wife.

Documentary exploring why Belgian television doesn't invest more money in Belgian cinema as is the case in e.g. the netherlands.

A husband, half of an entertainment duo, the Nellicos, tells his wife, who is the other half of the duo, that he has another woman. But they cannot discuss this as he tells her only just before they are due to perform in front of a large audience. (BFI)
