At the end of World War II, a French pacifist is arrested for refusing to fight. In prison, he befriends a German priest arrested for murder of a French Resistance fighter. They discuss morality, obedience, and religion.
In the waiting room of the Auvernaux station, the atmosphere is very lively. Several passengers, who have missed their train, are discussing the killer of young girls who is rampant in the region. While the criminal might be in the vicinity, pursued by the police, a journalist leads the investigation inside the station.
Christiane, a gullible young girl who wants to become a dancer, is lured by Daniel, a handsome, elegant talker. He takes her to Tangiers and forces her to work in a shady cabaret. Christiane is in for a rude awakening.
