Simon Aubert runs his entire life on lies. An executive at an aviation company, he lies about everything… Simon’s self-serving lies are so abundant that the universe (governed by a handful of Buddhist monks, it seems) decides to right a wrong by teaching him a lesson and making all of the lies reality on the eve of his company’s crucial meeting with a Russian businessman that Simon absolutely needs to impress in order to prevent the closure of the small-town plant where his twin brother Phil works.

For twenty-two years, Leo Huff has been working as a secretary in the same office. A cargo ship embarks on its final voyage of the year to resupply Inuit communities in the far north of Canada. During a storm off the coast of Labrador, the ship’s cook is found murdered in his cabin. With no way to identify the culprit among the twenty crew members, suspicion falls on Alupa, an Inuit mechanic and close friend of the victim. Unfolding in reverse, from the investigation back to the night of the storm and the murder, the film transcends the boundaries of a traditional whodunit to probe deeper questions of race, class, and sexual desire.

Long-time friends Yan, Simon, Roxanne, Maxime and his sister Lily are in their early 20s, the age when anything is possible. They are just embarking on their careers. Then one fine summer day, Yan is involved in a fatal car accident. The young man is killed instantly and the rest of the gang is thrown into turmoil.
