The dark future is already here, we only need to invest in current trends of decay and disruption. "Abstract Horror" is an experimental film focusing on new forms of ideology mediated by smart technology. The film focuses on the so-called neo-reactionary movement (NRx), which primarily includes Silicon Valley visionaries, and it reflects the thought processes of this group. The abstract horror might have a very concrete form.
Abstract Horror
This adaptation of the storyboard L’amore è un lepidottero (1941) by Italian artist and experimental filmmaker Bruno Munari contrasts dreamy melodrama set against the backdrop of war with the giallo aesthetics of Italian slasher films. The result is a rapid collage that combines computer animation, improvised shots, archival material, and images generated by artificial intelligence. Each element speaks a different visual language, but together they create a paradoxical “handmade” aesthetic in which technology clashes with nostalgia.
Replica
Cosmic horror explores the elements and matter of so-called inanimate nature, which become actors and form a new ecosystem. A stream of depictions of fluid materials embedded into each other is accompanied by an unsettling soundtrack that reinforces the uncertainty of whether we are watching a cosmogonic or eschatological vision.
