A young designer is tormented by remorse after a viaduct of his design collapses.

40-year-old engineer Marek Kołodziejski comes to his hometown after fifteen years. He wants to take revenge on his friends who kicked him out of the band for appropriating the authorship of the project.

The protagonist is preparing for a year-long business trip to Hungary. The trip appears to be a promotion, but in reality it is tantamount to losing his position. At the same time, his wife has already started an affair with his deputy, who is also his successor.
