On the eve of Independence, the chairman of the Border Commission, Sir Cyril Radcliffe decides to divide India and Pakistan into equitable halves. What the administration doesn’t account for is the line running through the middle of Begum Jaan’s brothel situated plonk on the border; with one half falling in India and the other in Pakistan.

Based on the murder of Junko Furuta. The film deals as much with the social factors that produced Furuta's four assailants as it does with Furuta's suffering at their hands.

Based on the backdrop of the weddings that happen in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, the film focuses on the entire drama, chaos, cultural differences and ego clashes that take place during a wedding.
