Ed Deline is a strict ex-CIA officer who went from being Head of Security to becoming President of Operations of the Montecito, whose job is to run the day-to-day operations of the casino. Following his departure, former Marine Danny McCoy, Ed's former protégé, becomes the Montecito's new President of Operations.

Glenn Hall runs a less-than-conventional detective. Her staff includes Roberta Young, a detective who goes to great lengths to get the job done; Manny Lott, the resident technology wiz; and Dana Plant, a former Santa Monica police detective.

Eric's art gallery is losing money, and even though his psychiatrist wife wants to help, she can't do much to cheer him up. When a young, sexy woman named Toni accepts a sales position at the gallery, she instantly brings it back to life, jump-starting Eric's troubled marriage in the process. But the marital problems soon come back, prompting accusations that Eric is having an affair with Toni.
