Denmark, 2016. A blurred note is found in a bottle that has traveled across the ocean for a long time. After deciphering the cryptic note, Department Q follow a sinister trail that leads them to investigate a case that occurred in 2008. At the same time, new tragic events take place that test their faith and deepest beliefs.
Henrik and his younger lover Lulu go on an intimate trip to France. Unexpectedly, Henrik's son, David, arrives.
It's a roller coaste coming-of-age story. Focus is on the three kids thrown into extraordinary circumstances, which brings out best and worst in their relationship to themselves, each other, death and having to be/become an adult. Mum's corpse only appears briefly in the first episode, and the morbid aspects of the story are undertoned in relationship to the subtle humor.
