Biography
Prior to his acting career, Wang served out his NS days in the Aerodrome fire service. He was offered a contract by the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation after completing the 3rd drama training course. In 1983, he starred in one of SBC's earliest idol dramas The Flying Fish, which catapulted him to stardom. Initially he had left the industry in 1995 to concentrate on his second job as an insurance agent but returned to MediaCorp in 2000 as a freelancer at the persuasion of some friends.[1] More recently he became known for playing darker characters and antagonists such as in The Golden Path, Unriddle 2 and Joys of Life.
Known For

Far away in the universe, a planet AMIKUS is facing serious pollution and a depletion of its natural resources. Another neighbor Zhou Zhi Qiang discovers the true identities of the Chens and uses it to take advantage of Chen Xiao Long (Brandon Wong). With their leader falling in love and a human-alien baby on its way, will our friends from afar complete their mission? And can they uncover the defector who has been taking on a human-form and living among them?

Against the Tide

The Golden Path is a 30-episode drama serial. Set in 1982 and spanning 25 years, it tells the story of a family embroiled in conflicts of interest, webs of deceit, love, hatred and vengeance. The drama was produced by MediaCorp in celebration of the company's 25 years of local Chinese drama production and incorporates scenes from past dramas such as The Seletar Robbery, The Flying Fish, Pretty Faces, Turn of the Tide, Finishing Lines, The Last Applause, Stepping Out, The Golden Pillow and Holland V. The serial was telecast on MediaCorp TV Channel 8, from 11 December 2007, weekdays at 9:00pm. The series finale aired on 21 January 2008.
The Golden Path

Yuan Yingcai (Desmond Tan), a teacher working at an art school, suddenly commits suicide. His death causes an uproar in the school. He had a promising future ahead of him. Why would he kill himself? Yingcai’s twin brother Yuan Yingjie (also played by Desmond Tan), who has lived abroad most of his life, returns to Singapore to deal with Yingcai’s funeral matters. He believes that there is more to Yingcai’s death and decides to infiltrate the art school and uncover the truth behind. His investigations lead him to several suspects, including Yingcai’s newly wedded wife and students. The Awakening

The title of the film refers to the old Chinese tradition of burning paper offerings for their deceased loved ones. This short film is a eulogy for this colourful art form that is fast disappearing in Singapore’s modern society.
