Adalbert "Mussu" Koikkalainen inherits 9,000 marks from his uncle. To buy a milk shop, Koikkalainen needs another thousand marks and work experience, so he applies for a job at the department store Sampo, where he is hired as a scapegoat to receive customer complaints. The saleswoman Irja Salo, who is under threat of dismissal, falls in love with the general manager Vaara, whom she thinks is a traveling salesman.

The short documentary Holiday Days on Teno, wonderfully filmed by the Grand Old Man of Lapland films, Aimo Jäderholm (b. 1916), is a dream come true for every fly fisherman and salmon hunter. The film's salmon adventure is based on "Palto Rantteella" in Karigasniemi in late July 1948. From there, the fishing guests, "the stout police chief of Kuopio and other southern crows", set off to catch salmon. Aleksanteri, a skolt from Petsamo, was the rower, and "it was already good enough for others to row, when he himself had pulled a 23-kilogram körilä and much more besides".
