Many years after a deadly terrorist siege in a Moscow theatre, survivor Natalya returns to the crime scene to hold a memorial evening, finally able to confront her survivor's guilt and her estranged daughter and husband.

Anna, a sociology student from a prosperous family, must pass her internship and goes outside to conduct a study, during which it is necessary to find out how modern Russians see their future.

Dasha, at first glance, does not have a life, but a fairy tale. She holds a high position in the Ministry of Culture, and the young man who bought an apartment for their future family is in love with her. But in reality, not everything is going smoothly at work, the new apartment overlooks a vacant lot, and the lover is more interested in his mother's opinion. Dasha decides to escape - on a business trip around the Perm region. The young bar owner Sergey becomes her unexpected companion. Now people who are strangers to each other will have to travel through Perm cities and villages, meeting people who are alien to the ambitions and bustle of the metropolis.

In pursuit of the dream of finding their place in modern Moscow, the heroes of the film are desperately trying to become the best version of themselves. At the beginning of autumn, their lives will intertwine, and before the first snow, each of them will have to learn to be themselves.

The naïve Maris joins the Wehrmacht during the Nazi occupation of the Baltic states, together with his brother and several others from the village. The barracks are in a monastery, and Maris – whom everyone views as a fool – seems to consider his fate a religious calling. Until his eyes are opened by the soldiers’ misbehaviour, and he takes it upon himself to save a young woman.
