A photographer and his friend, an ethnographer who loves her work, come to the village to celebrate Ivanа-Kupala. But a number of mystical events make them realize that the purpose of their trip is completely different.

While traveling home by train, Andriy and his companions decide to play a little joke to get them moved from the open carriage to a compartment. Andriy does not yet know that this joke will cost him the rest of his life and that the meaning of his existence will become proving that the joke was just a joke.
