This production from Cirque du Soleil is a lyrical, fanciful, kinetic foray into the seventh art. Bringing together dance, acrobatics, live video, filmed sequences and animation, the show takes spectators on a fantastic voyage through the history of cinema and its genres, taking them into the heart of the movie-making process. From illustration to animation, black and white to colour, silent films to talkies, fixed shots to swooping camera movements, spectators witness the poetic construction/deconstruction of this art as an object and as a way of transcending reality.

Jean-Christophe Maillot has re-worked Swan Lake with the writer Jean Rouaud (1990 Prix Goncourt winner) to bring a new drama to this pillar of the classic repertoire. This new adaptation, filmed in a special studio-setting at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, brings a modern-day relevance to the timeless story of Siegfried and Odette.

Inspired by Charles Perrault's famous fairy tale "The Sleeping Beauty," choreographer Jean-Christophe Maillot homes in on the theme of abstinence and virtue vs. carnal desire in this bewitching ballet. Performed by Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo and featuring the music of Pyotr Tchaikovsky, this enchanting production won the Nijinsky Award for Best Choreographic Production 2001 and the Danza & Danza Prize for Best Show 2002.

This tribute paid homage to the beloved characters we got introduced to in the 60’s and 70’s in The Beatles’ legendary songs, such as Sgt. Pepper and Eleanor Rigby. The show is a whirlwind of color and energy, with each character representing a different era of The Beatles' history. These characters, along with many other cast members, dance, fly, and perform breathtaking acrobatics, alongside revisited classics from The Beatles' timeless discography.
