Biography
Edson Barrus, born in 1961 Brazil, artist leaving in São Paulo and Paris. Develop now with UTBM the Project Mulato's Dog. Artistgranted by CNPQ-Brasil. Cultural activist , has created the alternative space Rés do Chão in Rio de Janeiro from 2002 to 2005, a space to study, perform display and investigate on contemporary art practices. Editor of the magazine Nós Contemporâneos. Has participated to many International Film Festival in Europe and in the Americas.

In the subway of Berlin, an african woman get into the subway holding in her hand a red shard, she shouts « This is my heart ». These words induce silence during the remainder of the voyage. And one wonders: where do we us keep our prejudices? Selected for the New York Film Festival 2006.

Volta Ao Longe
The recording of an improvised musical performance is made along short sequences with a digital photo camera. The rendering of the performance is not at stake within the film. The editing doesn?t follow the event, but emphasized on the links between images and sounds, focusing on disjunction, beats, and repetition of gestures. Therefore the image becomes sound.
Banda Phodre
Going through the financial district of Sao Paulo. We encounter pedestrians, advertising boards, historical landmarks of the city on the go.

Edson Barrus' film concentrates on three cities: Sao Paolo, Paris and Yokohama. Filmed entirely with a mobile phone, From the Cellphone II takes us from one city to another, via their respective subway systems; from sun-soaked Sao Paolo to a grey and rainy evening in Paris.
