A story of a several days of intense fighting on the Eastern Front during one of the Soviet offensives in WWII.

The Odesa boys, Petya Bachey and Gavrik Chernoivanenko, are brave and resourceful, finding themselves at the centre of early 20th-century events leading to the October Revolution. They are joined by adult characters like sailor Rodion Zhukov, Petya’s father Vasily, Madame Storozhenko, and Gavrik’s grandfather. As they grow, they experience the revolution, civil war, and become underground fighters during WWII in occupied Odesa.

Alexey Titarenko is very talented pilot and brave leader of "Singing group". He also must look after some new cadets and fight together with them against German Luftwaffe planes. Testing of a new jet aircraft, the psychology of human life, the problems and joys of life of pilots - all this is closely intertwined in the film. The heroes of the film - friends test pilots Dolotov and Sanin - have walked together all their lives. But it so happened that one of them, Dolotov, was once unfairly suspended from flying, while Sanin failed to protect and support his friend. Friends' paths diverged...

The film is dedicated to Dmitry Ilyich Ulyanov, the younger brother of V.I. Lenin, a professional revolutionary, doctor and creator of the first Soviet sanatoriums and rest homes in the Crimea.
