Born in Southern Italy, he moved to Rome and graduated in philosophy with an essay on cinema. He moved on to work with Gianni Amelio, Bernardo Bertolucci, and Giuseppe Bertolucci. He co-wrote many movies and tv- series. He is married to writer Lidia Ravera.
Known For

It's 1987, the final act of the Maxi Trial in Palermo, the largest criminal trial in Italian history. On this occasion, eight jurors, four women and four men, are locked in a deliberation chamber for thirty-six days. Their task is to determine the convictions or acquittals of 470 defendants accused of mafia crimes.

From the novel by Lidia Ravera, which wants to be a mirror of the disappointed generation that made '68 and that ten years later finds itself without ideals to reject the world or to fit into that, reassuring, of the fifties. The protagonist, a left-wing journalist, manages to find her identity in the relationship with a teenager who lives her life without wasting it on hopes or regrets.
