The plot centers on a large-scale conspiracy by a group of US military personnel, led by General James Scott, against the current President Jordan Lyman. Further events show that the President, who sent his closest aides and friends to investigate, easily and almost indifferently accepts the news of their deaths, because he is only interested in his own person.

In this drama with socio-political nuances, a heroic engineer is able to save the passengers on his train from injury or death by sacrificing his own life when his locomotive crashes. An investigator Ermakov and journalist Malinin are both involved in the story of the crash but from two different angles: the investigator wants to find out why it happened, the journalist wants to laud the heroism of the dead engineer.

It is the New Year's Eve and the employees of an Economics Institute are ready with their annual New Year's entertainment program. It includes a lot of dancing and singing, jazz band performance and even magic tricks. Suddenly, an announcement is made that a new director has been elected and that he is arriving shortly. Comrade Ogurtsov arrives in time to review and disapprove of the scheduled entertainment. To him, holiday fun has a different meaning. He imagines speakers reading annual reports to show the Institute's progress over the year, and, perhaps, a bit of serious music, something from the Classics, played by the Veterans' Orchestra. Soviet intelligence spouses — Lyudmila ("Lyre") and Fyodor ("Starling") Grekov at the beginning of the Great Patriotic War are tasked with settling in Germany. The film recreates the past and shows a day of combat life Manshuk and her comrades, who took unequal battle with German tanks.

The assistant captain of a foreign merchant ship, Chief, contacts an international drug cartel. He agrees to transport a large shipment of drugs in unmarked containers. The markings will be added later, only at the shipper's request. Unexpectedly, the ship has to call at a Soviet port to refuel.

Based on a story by K. Zandner. An American air base is located in the mountainous desert of a Middle Eastern country. Henry Davis (Alexander Belyavsky) dreamed of being an art historian, but became a military pilot. His work is associated with risk, but the hero is satisfied with a decent income. Performing a reconnaissance flight, Henry invades the airspace of the Soviet Union and comes under fire from border anti-aircraft guns. Davis barely manages to make it to the base. He is presented with an award and offered to prepare to fly a new super-fast airplane.
