In the time of WW2 Sgt Holt and his platoon were ordered to clear the forest from the enemy troops, with no mercy. The men experienced the war cruelty and learned that each freed meter cost them victims.

One day after D-Day and American and German soldiers are separated from their respective units. Both Paul and Manning struggle with their situation. Everyone has their own reason for wanting to return home.

The young Sergeant Hartwig and his comrades are in France. They are supposed to take propaganda photos there. But they have no idea that they are in the middle of the invasion by the Allied forces.
