In one of the Kuban collective farms, a new beauty-cook has appeared. Many began to look after her, but the girl was not a timid dozen and quickly gave a turn to the unlucky boyfriends from the gate. However, true love found a way to her heart, and although human envy and stupidity have done many troubles, the lovers still managed to unravel this complex tangle of misunderstandings.
After Polina, a mother of six, loses her husband, who went to jail for stealing charcoal and was killed when he tried to escape, she stays behind without any support. To be able to survive, Polina and her family start a folk group. But soon she understands that her children deserve a better fate, and she takes the desperate decision to steal a plane and go abroad... Fifteen years later, Polina is released from prison and finds out that fate has scattered her children all over the country: one is in the army, another is a miner in the Donbass, and the oldest, Lyonchik, who used to be in a mental institution, now pretends to be insane. Polina gathers all of her sons to free their older brother from the psychiatric hospital...
First, there was a visit by a famous writer to his old friend, who then, in order to get rid of a random witness, killed him. Envy and money. Isn't that a motive for a crime? The police opened a criminal case, and the search for the perpetrator began. It turned out that there were many witnesses. But the weapon used to kill the writer has not yet been found...
Makar has spent years overseeing work at a collective farm. After he is asked to retire, it is time for Makar's son to take the reins. Yet the farm workers' hopes are soon dashed, and it is up to Makar to right the ship.
At the resort, chance brings together Grebentsov and Panshin, former fellow soldiers. Grebentsov had once vacationed in these places, and then he had an affair with a beautiful local girl, Nadya. And now she appears again in Grebentsov's life. The past enters the present and may change tomorrow.
The film comprises three cinematic novellas: (1) “And They Arrived at the Peasant’s Hut… or the Adventures of Writer Senya in Search of the Hidden Word,” in which writer Senya draws inspiration for his rural novels from his housekeeper Yermolayevna’s tales; (2) “The Song, or How the Great Louarsab Organized a Choir,” where a city visitor attempts to form a choir of centenarian elders in a Georgian mountain village; (3) “What Is Our Life?! or What Is Our Life?!”—during a musical reenactment of pre-Revolutionary France, a drunken actor’s tardiness forces King Louis XIV (also the theater committee chairman) and the cast to improvise the play’s ending.
The Russian Civil War is over and the White Guard are all dead or abroad. Some of the exiled nobles are attempting to crown a new Tsar/Emperor abroad, and a couple of impostors are vying for the position. At the same time, some of the Elusive Avengers' old foes are trying to return to Russia, for mysterious reasons. The avengers are assigned the task of finding out what's going on. Turns out the bad guys are after the Russian Crown, which is encrusted with many diamonds and jewels. It is not clear whether the crown is only wanted for the coronation ceremony or if the bad guys are trying to sell it to the highest bidder, but either way they must be stopped. The avengers are after them. Two go to Paris to infiltrate the emigrant community, and the other two work on the Russian soil.
The movie consists of three short stories that share a common satirical theme: alcoholism and drunkenness. The stories are "Such an imprudence!," "According to the laws of hospitality," "100 grams for bravery".
Moscow Year New Year's Eve 1987. In the 25th hospital on duty are the obstetrician and the nurse. They make the rounds, after which sit down to celebrate the New Year. Suddenly, the hospital ambulance arrives with a pregnant woman - daughter of the general, who had an accident and she started the premature birth. Despite the exhortations of doctors that gestational age is a tragic turn for the child, a fierce general, threatening with a pistol, forcing him to take delivery. A child is born dead, and intimidated doctor decides to replace it for a living. On the same day another woman gave birth to twin-girls, one of which is changed. Ironically, the two girls called Masha.
The nationalization of banks in Cuba by Fidel Castro's government brought many worries to both the counterrevolutionaries who fled the country and the ordinary workers who found themselves called upon to run these institutions. Garcia, sent by the former owners of the bank to Roberto, its manager, persuades him to help him break into the bank building to steal the checks of the American-Cuban Bank. Roberto hesitates: on the one hand, the former owners have made him, once a simple accountant, the manager, but on the other hand, he cannot go against the people. He must help the worker Maximo, appointed by the revolutionary government as the bank's commissioner, to understand all the intricacies of the case. Maximo trusts him, consulting him in everything.
Alice-type Soviet girl, named Olya meets her counterpart Yalo, while looking into the mirror. Yalo is an absolute antipode to Olya: where Olya is precise and neat, Yalo is absent-minded, careless, etc. The explicit plot relates to Olya learning to see herself differently, but this occurs through an experience in the Kingdom of Crooked Mirrors which serves as a mechanism for commenting on the ability of a society to manufacture a false reality.
A story of a four sons of a big Ivanov family who are trying to start their own independent life.
The action takes place in 1920 during the Civil War. Crimea on the eve of complete liberation from the White Guards. Returning from patrol, the four brave “elusive” knocked down an airplane. In the field bag of the captured pilot, they find a secret report, which speaks of the existence of defensive fortifications around the coastal city, which the Reds have yet to take. Young heroes get the task to get a map of fortifications and go to the city...
Without waiting for a friend, the painter Lenya Penkin gives his ticket to Lucy Korableva, who wins the piano in the lottery draw at the end of the match. Leni's friend, having found out about this, tries to persuade him to take away Lucy's piano, sell it and buy himself a motorcycle. Without persuading Lenya, he still acts in his own way. Lucy and Lenya quarrel, but soon realize that they love each other...
They met Antipov on a train carrying evacuees to Kazakhstan in the fall of 1941. A young woman with a young son warmly accepted his help and support.
A funny story about a middle-aged man who ran into a store, bought two pies and ate them while standing in line. When it was his turn to pay, he got into trouble - no one had seen how many pies he had eaten. The head of the section invites the customer to go to the head of the department, and the latter, in turn, addresses the store director. The director suggests that the customer wait until the store closes, when the goods will be removed.
