Biography
Brendan Brady is a Canadian Screen Award-nominated producer, writer and director from Toronto. In 2014 Brendan was selected as one of five residents at the Canadian Film Centre's (CFC) Producers' Lab. After the lab, Brendan wrote, directed, produced and starred in the short film, Black Rock or Bust, which premiered at the Calgary International Film Festival ('16). In 2016, he produced, in association with The Breath Films, Colonization Road (dir. Michelle St. John), a one-hour documentary that premiered at imagineNative ('16) and was subsequently sold to and aired on the CBC's flagship documentary program, Firsthand. Colonization Road was nominated for the Donald Britain Award for Best Social/Political Documentary at the Canadian Screen Awards (18') His latest short, Keep Coming Back! premiered at the Palm Springs International Short Film Festival ('18), The Whistler Film Festival ('18) and Canadian Film Festival (19') and was sold to Air Canada's Enroute entertainment. Brendan has directed several short films for the Canadian Film Centre, including actor showcase pieces Vivienne (18'), starring Libby Osler and Enrico Colantoni, Tammy (19') starring Michelle Mcleod and Dan Beirne, feature writers showcase piece Emily & Andrew's Grand Finale (18') written by Laurel Brady, television writer showcase pieces, Schadenfreude (19') written by Veronika Paz, and Eros (20') written by Henry Campbell. In 2020 Brendan was one of six screenwriters selected for the Whistler Film Festival's Screenwriter's Lab with his adaptation of the Governor General's Award-nominated play, Miracle Mother. The script was also a finalist at the 2020 Austin Film Festival's screenwriting competition. Brendan has production managed and line produced the feature films, The Exchange (20'), The Rest of Us (19'), Mouthpiece (18'), Giant Little Ones (17'), Don't Talk To Irene (17'), Mobile Homes (17') as well as the FX/HULU television series, 9 Films About Technology (21'). Brendan serves as a producer, production manager and 2nd Unit Director on the acclaimed Crave/Hulu series Letterkenny.
