An ordinary family faces a catastrophe: the serious illness of one of its children. Each member of the family sees their personal life impacted by this ordeal. Disasters make people more human, though not necessarily better.

The beach. Sky blue sea, white sand. Its attendants tanned, blackened, reddened. Amongst this crowd, no one fat. He remains cloistered in his den, sheltered from the sun and the noisy masses of people. Behind his curtains, he contemplates Marie, young and beautiful vacationer... and awaits the night...
