An adaptation of “Crime and Punishment", a young educated man's descent into madness and paranoia after committing a crime, and finding comfort in the company of kind-hearted but abused poor prostitute in the middle of his turmoil.

In the 1960s, the lives of three college classmates, Ismail, Zainab, and Helmy, take a dark turn when the three of them are arrested and tortured as part of the repressive and violent practices that were employed by the General Intelligence Directorate back then.

Osama becomes impotent after a car accident. When he grows distant with his fiancée Salwa, she gets close to the poor singer, Nader, whom she lies to and pretends to be just as poor. As they team up for work, she meets Osama at a party and tries to use Nader to make him jealous.

Sina' learns of the numerous affairs her husband Shakir has had with other women. At this time, she gets to know Hashem, and they become increasingly close. Hashem learns of the dysfunctions within Sina’’s family and tries to take advantage of this for his own interests, specially after meeting Arfan, the husband of Sina’s sister. Arfan uses Sina’s sister’s money for his own projects, and tries to pressure his daughter Hoda into marrying a rich Arab man.

Sabrina's mother is sick, and her aunt visits them to check on the health of her sister. At the Police College, after being attracted to Sabrina and promised to marry, but the aunt is determined to marry her son Idiot Mohammed to ensure service to the whole family.

Hassanein and Barhuma suffer from the abuse of (El-Hanash) a bully in the neighborhood. After some time, Hassanein travels to Greece where he meets with his mistress Aziza and marries her after knowing that she has a child as a result of their illicit relationship. On the other hand, El-Hanash gets his agents in Greece to go after Hassanein, which results of Aziza's murder by a bullet directed towards her by mistake instead of Hassanein.

Galal sends men from the mental hospital to Port Said to arrest his sister Fatma, using his political position, accusing her of insanity. Fatma escapes to the roof of the house and threatens to throw herself if someone approaches her, telling her story to the crowds around her.

Tensions rise in the house of Suleiman Al-Nagy, the defender of the weak, because his son's wife, Radwana, fell in love with his other son Khider. When Radwana's husband Bark finds out, he accuses his brother of betraying him and tries to kill him but Khider denies the accusation and escapes.

Mashtaha flees her town after a local man assaults her. Her relationship with the taxi driver Zaki grows stronger. The wealthy businessman Sadiq takes a liking to her and encourages her to agree to marry him so that they can seize his wealth. Sadiq becomes paralyzed when he discovers her betrayal. The two lovers fail to find out how Sadiq opened the safe, so they decide to kill him.

Jasser sneaks into Yassin's house to steal, but he senses a strange movement, as Saadia, the servant Ibrahim's wife, tries to find out who is in the house, so he kills her and Yassin. During that, Ibrahim arrives, and his daughter Naima testifies against him after seeing him holding a knife next to her mother's body, so he is imprisoned, and events escalate.

Abu al-Ma'ati disguies himself as a janitor of a building to escape justice, he meets a dancer and work together in prostitution and drug trade, but events turn when he decides to run for election.

The couple, Adel and Salwa, live a quiet life. A problem occurs in the kitchen, so a plumber comes to repair some pipes. The plumber assaults Salwa, and since then, the relationship between the couple has split.

Adel is a director of a company and is married to Nabila, the daughter of Medhat, the owner of the company. Adel falls in love with the company employee's princess, reveals her feelings and that he was unfortunate in his life with his wife and that his marriage was an interest in relation to his position. A princess shared the same feelings and married her in secret, but Medhat finds out about them.

Aida works at Jalal Wahdan's investment company. Jalal asks her to help him return the savings of the depositors he has defrauded, from a bank in Switzerland that deals with voice prints. She tells Sami, her friend Rawya's husband, about this. Sami undergoes surgery to change his vocal cords, making his voice match Jalal's.

A land inherited by the children from their father is worth one million pounds. Before selling it, the uncle offers a contract stating that he bought it from the father before his death. So what do children do?

In a dramatic social framework, the events revolve around life in a neighborhood (Darb al-Bahlawan), which is ruled by a fatwa who oppresses the poor. One of the brave young men from that family appears to stand up to this bully, to end the injustice on his family, and on the people of the neighborhood, so will he succeed?
