Biography
Karim Shaaban is an Egyptian filmmaker who most recently premiered his short film I DON’T CARE IF THE WORLD COLLAPSES, starring Egyptian star Salma Abu Deif. Over the past decade he has established himself as one of the top commercials directors in the Arab World. His first feature film, FI YOUM (IN A DAY), was awarded a Special Mention at the 37th Cairo International Film Festival. This was followed by his short film NIGHTSHIFT, which world premiered at Cleveland IFF and went viral on YouTube, racking up over 700k+ views to date. He most recently directed his debut feature, 6 DAYS, starring Ahmed Malek and Ayah Samaha, and produced by Cairo-based Sea Cinema Productions.

What's Going On?

Zein, a young man in his mid 20s, seems content with his job as a customer service representative for an internet service provider. During one of his shifts, way past midnight, he receives a call from a customer, Akram. Complaining about a malfunction, Akram’s frustration starts growing. His dissatisfaction with the process gradually becomes an abusive rant, during which he lashes out at Zein, exposing to him the drudgery of his work, his powerlessness, and the ugliness of his life.

When the star of her new commercial chooses not to continue filming due to pressing circumstances, a young producer suffers a severe blow to her career. She has to choose between her human side and the responsibilities of her profession, and she attempts to save the filming of the commercial before it collapses.
