This story focuses on China's notorious college entrance exam, the "gaokao." It follows three seniors in high school and their families as they navigate the ups and downs of their lives whilst preparing for this exam that they believe will determine the trajectory of the rest of their lives.
After he was demoted and sent to the mortal world, Erlang Shen needs to open his third eye in order to subdue the thousand-year dragon that violated heaven’s law and broke through the dragon gate. This is the only way he can return to heaven.
Inspired by sociologist Eviatar Zerubavel’s book of the same name, this experimental dance film confronts those “obvious yet collectively ignored” issues at the heart of contemporary society.
