Şahin is a courageous and aggressive police commissioner who pursues female traffickers. He is the nightmare of the gangs involved in white slavery that he has been pursuing for years. Yusuf, one of the most ruthless criminals in illegal crime networks that wound the conscience of society, lures innocent young girls with his good looks and sells them, causing them to become prostitutes. Unable to bear this, a prostitute named Sema attempts suicide by cutting her wrists. Yusuf takes her to the forest to avoid trouble. When Yusuf sees that another prostitute named Cansu witnessed the incident, he threatens her as well. The frightened young woman takes refuge in the home of Çağla, a prostitute she trusts. Çağla hides Cansu and does not tell anyone where she is. The police investigate the suicide of Sema.

This is one of the tragicomic films of Kemal Sunal who is most "serious-comic" artist of the Turkish cinema. This film also reflects socio-economic and cultural life of the 70's-80's Turkiye. The film obviously talk to Turkish audience but who wonder that era of Turkiye can taste of it. The film underlines of love, friendship and -richness in the poorness- and also is a story about the people who prefers love, instead of money and fortune. The theme and narration may include some populist elements -like most Kemal Sunal films- but generally tells its story as well. The story is familiar to Turkish audience: A young man loves young girl. In most Turkish love films one of the partners is rich or poor according to the other but in this movie both sides are poor and they have many difficulties to reach happy end. In my opinion, these kind of movies always gives hope to people to get over it.

Gönül meyhanesi tells the story of a young college student (Demir Karahan), living with his sick mother. One night he gets involved in a car accident and loses his sight. The driver (Belgin Doruk) feels guilty about this incident and suffers.

The story tells of the experiences of a journalist who has been slandered. Abdullah works as the editor-in-chief at his father-in-law's newspaper. In his latest articles, he exposes the illegal activities of several companies. As a result, many companies file lawsuits against the newspaper. They withdraw their advertisements from the newspaper. Enraged by this situation, Hayri Bey fires his son-in-law Abdullah. He appoints Abdullah's closest friend Yusuf as editor-in-chief. That same evening, Hayri Bey is murdered. The police suspect Abdullah, whose relationship with his father-in-law was strained, and arrest him. Yusuf, who believes Abdullah is innocent, will try to get his friend out of jail.
