Wrestlers will portray heroes or villains as they follow a series of events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches.

ECW was a professional wrestling television program for WWE, based on the independent Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion that lasted from 1992 to 2001. The show's name also referred to the ECW brand, in which WWE employees were assigned to work and perform, complementary to WWE's other brands, Raw and SmackDown. It debuted on June 13, 2006 on Sci Fi in the United States and ran for close to four years until it aired its final episode on February 16, 2010 on the rebranded Syfy. It was replaced the following week with WWE NXT.

WCW's flagship show led to the famous Monday Night War. Featuring the nWo, Lex Luger, Ric Flair, Sting, and the Cruiserweights.

TNA Xplosion is a television program produced by Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, featuring both highlights from Impact Wrestling and exclusive taped matches. It is now produced only for international markets, no longer airing in the United States. It currently airs in Canada on The Fight Network, in Asia and the Middle East on ESPN Star Sports, the Arab World on MBC Action, and is available on Challenge in the UK. Honor Invades Boston was a wrestling show held by Ring of Honor. It took place on August 24, 2002 at the Americal Civic Center in Wakefield, Massachusetts. Honor Invades Boston was the first ROH show to take place outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

ROH Arena Warfare is an event put on by Ring of Honor. The event took place on March 11, 2006 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The card featured Bryan Danielson defending his ROH World Title against Alex Shelley and Samoa Joe, Colt Cabana and Christopher Daniels in a Three Way Dance main event.

Unscripted was a wrestling event promoted by Ring of Honor. It took place on September 21, 2002 at the Murphy Recreational Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

ECW One Night Stand (2006) was a PPV produced by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). It was held on June 11, 2006 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, New York. The main event was John Cena versus Rob Van Dam for the WWE Championship. The predominant match on the undercard was Rey Mysterio versus Sabu for the World Heavyweight Championship. Another match on the undercard was Edge, Mick Foley, and Lita versus Terry Funk, Tommy Dreamer and Beulah McGillicutty in a Hardcore Intergender match.

Ring of Honor Wrestling returns from the Rex Plex in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The Field of Honor tournament continues, the tag team titles are on the line, and AJ Styles and Bryan Danielson clash in a number one contenders match.

Hell Freezes Over was a wrestling event held by Ring of Honor. It took place on January 14, 2006 at the Pennsylvania National Guard Armory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The show’s name comes from the main event, as ROH World Champion Bryan Danielson takes on Combat Zone Wrestling’s Chris Hero. The match came about after Danielson and Hero made several comments about each other on the internet. Danielson then sent an open contract for a shot at the ROH World Championship to CZW, who then signed Hero. Earlier in the day, CZW held An Afternoon of Main Events at the New Alhambra Arena in Philadelphia. During the show, Bryan Danielson, ROH Pure Champion Nigel McGuinness, and ROH Tag Team Champions Austin Aries and Roderick Strong jumped the guard rail, starting a fight with several CZW wrestlers. The show would be the start of the Ring of Honor vs. Combat Zone Wrestling feud, which would last for seven months.
