Mona’s days are filled with concern for her mother, a woman broken by her belief that her nightmares are real. In search of answers, Mona arrives in a village where she encounters an old family curse in a strange hotel.

In the late 19th century young radiologist Georg starts to experiment with the recently discovered X-Ray technology. At first his methods seem promising and his patients get better. Soon however, he plunges himself more and more into his work and must learn the true devastating nature of his treatments.

A house in a nice neighborhood. Mother, daughter, and son wait for the father to arrive for dinner. The idyll is deceptive. They pass the time and stave off their fear of his arrival with wine and gallows humor. Their increasingly ruthless exchange of suppressed truths escalates until there is no turning back.
