Ultraman Max was an Ultraman TV series which started airing on 7 July 2005, and produced by Tsuburaya Productions and Chubu-Nippon Broadcasting Co., Ltd.. The show tried to return to the true formula of new monsters every week and being a fast paced show like previous series with the exception of Ultraman Nexus. The show is full of homages to past series by having three of the original cast members from the first Ultraman series being featured in an episode, updated versions of classic monsters like Red King, Eleking and Pigmon among others. One unusual episode revolves around the filming of the 1964 program Ultra Q which was the predecessor to the first Ultraman show in 1966. Two actors from that show appear as themselves.

With no families to return to for summer vacation, three teenage boys spend their summer at their boarding school, alone and unsupervised. Darkness hangs over them after another boy shows up, who looks exactly like one of their classmates who had committed suicide months earlier. His arrival exposes the romances, jealousies, and tensions of growing up.

High school student Mikiko travels back in time to the future using a time machine built by Monjiro, the physics club advisor. What awaited her there was the reality that her best friends, Yoko and Tatsuro, were already married and were on the verge of breaking up. Mikiko returns to the modern world with the help of future Monjiro to mend their relationship.

A horror drama presented by Hideo Nakata, the mastermind of the Japanese horror boom, with a group of gorgeous actors. A total of 2 episodes are included, including the story of a teacher who is troubled by spirits and a dropout student "The 5th Tatari in 6 rows".

In Yamada Village, which is suffering from a serious shortage of wives due to the wave of depopulation, four young men from the village decide to go on an arranged marriage. However, they are rejected by the other women because of Yamada Village's too rural character. Then, a beautiful young writer, Ayakoji Reika, who has fallen into a slump, comes to Yamada Village in search of the countryside...
