On a road trip across Italy, recent high school graduates Ira, Malin and Ka pick up the intriguing backpacker Zoe. As the four girls stumble across an abandoned village, they start to experiment with the limits of their newly found freedom, away from the expectations of their parents and teachers.

Nurse Sinikka wants to help a prisoner who crosses the border from the Soviet Union. She and her fiancé plan a flight via Finland with the help of her mother. Ruth the girlfriend of Sinikka's brother happens to witness the escape, which puts them all in danger.

A film in two episodes. The first, "Juulia", is a young woman's stylish reminiscence of her brief summer romance, set in some of the most chic design locations around Helsinki. The second episode "Tikku", a seemingly semi-improvised comedy, takes an overworked housewife, her three children and her lazy husband out of the city to spend the weekend at the mother-in-law's.

After reading Basaglia's book *L'istituzione negata* (*The Institution Denied*), a young Finnish journalist travels to Trieste, to the psychiatric hospital run under Basaglia's management, to document the revolution taking place there.
