Over six episodes, Maisonneuve looks at the repercussions flowing from the arrest of 11 students at Montreal’s Collège de Maisonneuve as they prepared to join the ranks of the Islamic State in Syria. From the initial shock to a gradual opening for dialogue, the series follows the paths of six exceptional young people who share their points of view. Through their eyes, Maisonneuve highlights both the importance and the fragility of living together in harmony in Quebec.

Abdel’s quiet life is upended by the arrival of his extroverted cousin, who’s staying for the summer. Fatima craves a more stable life since she’s starting a new job as a supermarket cashier. Toussaint, while fishing, finds a bottle washed up on the shore, and there’s a message inside. Straddling the line between fiction and documentary, Les Rayons Gamma / Gamma Rays is a dramedy filmed with young, non-professional actors from immigrant communities.

Like every winter, the boys get together for a weekend sprinkled with snow and psychotropic drugs. A necessary tradition to abandon oneself, to marvel and to trust the unknown.

St-Ludger-de-Milot’s far left militia has been planning to create chaos for too long. Mounia, a very inspired recruit, is losing patience faced with her hotheaded leader Victor’s incompetence. A beaver is now bringing down trees on their lair, a recruitment video is stirring up controversy : everything seems to conspire against the rebels. But couldn’t all this mayhem be handy in their quest for chaos?

This is not a suicide movie. Emil, Donald and Julie are alive and rub shoulders, without much reason. Probably because they love each other. Finally, it may be a story. We'll see.
