A group of unique characters from dramatically different socio-cultural backgrounds meet in startling circumstances in the vibrant and colorful city of Istanbul, some by chance and some by force of will.

Two ex-lovers Ezgi and Memet decide to take 10 thousand steps by walking together every day. Different things happen to them every day. But they still keep taking steps every day.

A stagnant and gloomy village in the 1980s. Reyhan, Nurhan, and Havva, three sisters were sent to town as 'besleme' (foster child and maid). Since they fail their foster parents for different reasons, they are sent back to their father's house in their poor village. Deprived of their dreams of a better life, they try to hold on to each other.

The commune setup begins to unravel as a gulf opens up between its members. Meanwhile, the Stranger’s failure to fit in makes him feel increasingly isolated and he starts to become a threat to the building. The person who comes closest to understanding him ends up being the commune’s youngest member, Girl.

High school student Berk has a protective mother and a father who loves his son but has difficulty showing it. In the evening of a day when natural gas was cut off due to economic difficulties, he goes to the party organized by Mertcan, whom he thinks is his best friend, and where Neslihan, whom he likes, is also expected, but nothing goes as he expected.

"Letters from Silivri" draws on letters of the Turkish philanthropist and public intellectual Osman Kavala to document a timeline of his imprisonment. By separating voice and image the film intends to create an echo chamber that allows audiences to listen more carefully to Kavala’s letters, while at the same time place his words in context to a civil society.
