Biography

Kim Torres is a Costa Rican director and screenwriter, recognized as an emerging voice in Latin American cinema. Her short Night Light (2022) was the first Costa Rican film to be nominated for a Palme d'Or at Cannes. Her work has screened at NYFF, Locarno, MoMA, Lincoln Center and the Eye Filmmuseum. Her debut feature participated in La Fabrique Cinéma and Cannes Focus Copro. She was a Guest Artist at CalArts (2022), a Berlinale Talents mentee (2023) and an alumna of the Locarno Filmmakers Academy (2024).
