During the Croatian War of Independance, former French Foreign Legion operrative Ante Gotovina offers his expertise to the newly founded Army of the Republic of Croatia, quickly gaining the favour of the country's higher ups and becoming one of the conflict's most recognizable faces, loved by his troops and feared by his enemies.
Ivana, a succsesful, albeit heavily traumatized and psychologycally damaged reporter, decides to take her husband Zoran and ten year old son David on a vacation to the Adriatic coast. However, after Ivana snaps and physically assaults her son, cracks in her and Zoran's relationship begin to show.

To hide him from the public, the president appoints him as the commissioner of Croatian government on the furthest settled island Trečić, where he is tasked with the organization of local elections. The previous seven commissioners haven't succeeded.
