Port Workers

A group of workers from the port of Genoa, organized under the autonomous acronym C.A.L.P. (Collettivo Autonomo Lavoratori Portuali). They gather in an assembly to discuss the difficulties in dealing with the union, to denounce the passage of ships transporting weapons and explosives destined for war zones, and to reflect on the need to build networks and incorporate an intersectional approach into their political actions. Portuali is a film that tells the story of work and the union world from the inside, as well as the various forms of activism, laying the groundwork for a new narrative of class struggle.

In Jesi, a group of heterogeneous women of different ages follows Italian courses for foreigners taught by native teachers. In the classrooms where they meet for a few hours a week, uninterrupted accents resound, questions, laughter mixed with the cries of small children that the pupils cannot leave at home. At each meeting new words are learned and each new word is a place of confrontation between visions and experiences: for example, talking about "freedom" close to April 25 becomes an opportunity to know the dates in which in the country of origin of each the liberation is celebrated, those from the colonial occupation, who from the yoke of a dictatorial regime.

Mario Lorenzini was a working class man, a hiker, a hunter, and a member of the Italian Walser community. In the 70s, he bought a super8 camera and started shooting home-movies with it. Through his lens we experience the seasons passing by in Priami, a small village on the Swiss-Italian border. With his cinematic eye, he explores the people around him, while a second point of view emerges, giving an interpretation of his world, his life and his sense of cinema. His relationship with masculinity and the missed relationship with the "other sex" is often highlighted, enhancing the conflict between the expectations of his community and the reality of not fitting in.
