Documentary which, through the letters of Frances Wilkinson, an English woman who lived in China between the unsettled 30’s and 50’s, takes us on a journey to today’s China, comparing the letters’ point of view with that of the documentary-maker. A game of contrasts video-diary style involving the intimate reading of the letters by Frances’ granddaughter.

“That day a phantom sound started to ring in my head: a whistle with some cicadas that only I heard, or perhaps someone else could too. Like most people, I avoided silence so as not to hear my inner self. Because silence is only the beginning.”

This is a film about empty spaces. On the one hand, the disappearance of Our Lady of Zikuñaga, a 13th century sculpture, serves to reflect on the importance that we give to images and on how we build these images in the collective memory. On the other hand, the death of the filmmaker's father, Juanmi Gutiérrez, a film and documentary-maker who left us all of his images when he died.

A girl who was bought up by a pack of wolves returns to the city. Along her way she comes across different characters who transform her behaviour. Homing represents a journey from the wild world to a life in society.
