Murder investigator Evert Bäckström is convinced that crimes have been committed when a women's cranium is found on an island in the archipelago. But his investigation is countered by the police chief and when the woman's identity is clarified, the entire investigation is turned upside down.

Adena has a crush on her cute teacher, David. At her graduation ceremony she finds out that they’re going to celebrate Midsummer’s Eve at the same place, so she decides to approach him.

The film’s story revolves around Karin Stolpe’s complex relationship with her husband Sven Stolpe and her passionate love affair with Olof Lagercrantz which starts in the 1930s. It shows the impact of passion, jealousy and anger across 70 years, involving different generations.

A film crew sets sail on a catamaran to film a horror film where the scenes are improvised in chronological order, keeping the cast in the dark about the story. But what happens behind the scenes may be the real horror.
