An anthology series produced by Thames Television, comprised of short mystery, suspense or crime adaptations featuring, as the title suggests, detectives who were literary contemporaries of Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes.

Hilleborg always speaks negatively about her king's marriage to his left hand, Countess Danner. When it is rumored that King Frederik VII and Countess Danner are on their way to Hilleborg and her husband, Niels Parsberg's estate, Hilleborg refuses to be in the living room with the Countess. She switches roles with the housemaid, Lise Sørensen. Lise and Countess Danner quickly become good friends, while Hilleborg's situation worsens when the king decides to spend the night at the estate.

A beautiful but imperious princess refuses all offers of marriage, often condemning her suitors to death. The prince of Denmark comes seeking her hand and, aided by magic objects given to him by a mysterious spirit, seeks to win her love.

Young Jörgen Steenfeld is the heir of it over the chimney-indebted estate Steensgaard and unable to clear up its finances. He is being looked after by his old friend, "Mästerkatten", ie the enterprising, charming but somewhat irreplaceable Karl Konstantin Kattrup, who has been relegated from the university. Kattrup, involved as a manager at Steensgaard. Steenfeld receives visits by county governor Markdanner and her daughter Rose. The Countess is planning a marriage between Rose and Jörgen, but Jörgen is secretly in love with the orphan Helga Anthon, called Pips. The conditions are further complicated by the appearance of Kattrup and Rose.

The poor shipwright's daughter Hulda i dating the equally poor clerk Aage. One day she meets theatre manager Winckler who makes her a famous varieté star. Despite her many new suitors, Hulda still only has eyes for Aage. But, as Hulda proclaims, she cannot marry an impoverished clerk. The burning desire for Hulda pushes Aage to desperate measures. Using motifs from the classic Adam Oehlenschläger poem, the legend of the Golden Horns is told across four different epochs: the discovery of the first golden horn in 1639, the discovery of the second golden horn in 1734, the theft of the golden horns in 1802, and the saga of the golden horns in contemporary times. Emilie Sannom and Emanuel Gregers star in all four episodes, playing a young couple fighting to be together. (stumfilm.dk)
