Kana Hatakeyama is a Japanese + American filmmaker and actor based in Brooklyn. Her first film as writer-director, "okaasan (mom)" screened at film festivals including Brooklyn Film Festival, Dallas International Film Festival (Special Jury Award), New Orleans Film Festival (Audience Award), Nitehawk Shorts Festival (First Time Filmmaker Award, Audience Award), Nantucket Film Festival, and more. As an actor, she has appeared on Netflix's "Orange is the New Black" and "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt."
