Biography
Eileen Shim is a writer and producer best known for her work on television series such as House of the Dragon (2022), The Acolyte (2024), and Light as a Feather (2018). She studied comparative literature and international studies at Yale University. She later pursued a career in writing and cultural commentary based in New York. Early in her career, Shim contributed articles to outlets such as the Yale Daily News, where she wrote on topics ranging from theatre to university life, starting in 2009. Transitioning into television, she gained recognition as a writer for the supernatural thriller series Light as a Feather, credited with writing and teleplay work across multiple episodes. Shim's prominence grew when she joined the writing team of HBO's House of the Dragon, where she penned two episodes and also served as a co-producer on all ten episodes in Season 1. In 2024, she continued her collaboration with Lucasfilm as a writer on the Star Wars series The Acolyte. In addition to writing and producing, Shim is credited as the creator of the animated series Mech Cadets (2023).
