When an ambitious, skeptical young entrepreneur faces strange portents of impending death, he is thrust into a mystical world of ancient wisdom and traditional beliefs that points to a special woman as his only hope for life.

In this documentary we see Khyentse Norbu (director of The Cup, 1999) in Nepal during the filming for his latest film Looking for a Lady with Fangs and a Moustache, where he effortlessly switches between working with the hip film crew and performing ancient Buddhist rituals.

The father, who “ran, ran, and flew” from the source of the Mekong River, sings to his young daughter. Yangchen, who lives in India, meets with her sister, who has returned from France for their mother’s funeral, and reveals the wounds she could not share with their parents. After a brief encounter with his old friend Jigdal, who has come from America, Thangka artist Sonam suddenly feels as though his simple life is too shabby. And Tenzin who lives in Wisconsin arrives in Dharamsala, where he spent his childhood, carrying his father’s ashes.

Centred on the interwoven relationship between nature, spirituality and ritual, Charwei Tsai's​ "Lanyu — Three Stories"​ portrays the everyday life of the Tao people.​ Telling three short stories, the video is a journey into the indigenous communities that live in Lanyu, a rocky island off the southern coast of Taiwan, which controversially houses the nuclear waste of the country's three nuclear reactors.

In times of tragedy or jubilation, in poverty or wealth, we all have songs that we carry with us. And no matter where we come from, all human beings share this. We may not speak the same language or share the same culture, and we may have come from vastly different experiences in life but when we hear someone singing we immediately connect. We understand each other's suffering and joy. This is the purpose of our project.
