A young ordinary communist, Vasiliy Gubanov, was among many who took part in the construction of the most important facility for the young republic, the power plant. He did his job in a way that was beyond human ability. He could love, too, with a passion and a passion for self, but his life was cut short very early.

Zhenya Prokhorov, a pupil of an orphanage, draws the attention of the director of the capital's choir school. The professor strongly advises Zhenya to study. Having become a soloist in the boys' choir, Zhenya does not refuse from "left" concerts organized by the enterprising Victor Victorovich - and one day tears his voice. The young hero bears the first loss with dignity, and after graduating from the school enters the conservatory at the faculty of composition.

The heroes of the cheerful story, consisting as it were of three novellas, dentist Lenochka, lecturer Gudoshnikov and projectionist Sasha sail on a small boat on the northern river Yuve past beautiful places and taiga settlements, where they stop and get acquainted with the locals - kind, cheerful and soulful.

High school students Ksenya and Boris are in love but all the world is against them.

Agronomist Valya Chernysheva fell in love with the new chief agronomist of the MTS Savitsky, a widower with two small daughters. During the illness of one of the daughters, whom Valya was nursing, he realized that she had become a close person for him. But the girl left to work in another distant collective farm.

Ilya Rudenko, chairman of the prosperous collective farm, prepared for the solemn welcome of his famous countryman, retired Colonel Koval. Arriving to relax in the Lull, the former colonel was surprised by Ilya's strange approach to collective well-being. And when the chairman began to prepare the entire harvest of the apple orchard for shipment to the North to sell it at exorbitant prices, Koval said his word harshly and unequivocally — and received the same unequivocal support from all residents of the Calm...

Two foolish and frivolous guys cause suffering for the whole youth union at the factory. It was already decided to dismiss Anatoly Grachkin and his friend Victor Gromoboev but they are taken under the wing by Nadia Berestova, a diminutive funny woman, known as the popular one at the plant. At first, Nadia took it with reluctance and apprehension, but gradually this commission became the most important thing in her life.

The main characters are two graduates of a music school, gifted violinists. Andrei is ambitious, able-bodied, absorbed in the desire to achieve recognition. The other is Ladya Bragin, simple and reckless. On the day of the exam at the conservatory, he meets a girl who works as a clown, and immediately decides to stay in the circus. The creative successes of the heroes do not immediately and not simply take shape. Their will, their conviction of a calling, are severely tested. And yet both come to understand what happiness music can give and how much it demands from a musician...

In the first episode, Petya builds a homemade camera to secretly film a schoolyard brawl but is delighted when the fighting boys stage a fake reconciliation for his lens and then decide to form their own amateur film studio. In the second, football fans Borya and Alik adopt a stray black kitten, whose presence brings victory to their favorite team. In the third, Tolik and Dima, caught in the rain in their new silk parade uniforms, take refuge in a stairwell, proving that dedication sometimes means making the best of a soggy situation.
