The former head of the city of Artem Sapieha takes a geological expedition to the taiga. During a storm, he is separated without fire or weapons and must face dangerous wildlife.

Based on the novel of the same name by Daniil Granin. Engineer Chizhegov often travels on business to a small town, where he meets a woman who reciprocates his feelings.
