On a cold winter day, Goro Fujikawa (Tetsuya Watari) and Masahiko murder the mob boss of Meishin-Kai. The deed costs them time in prison, but Goro had no shred of regret. When Goro is released 2 years later, Masahiko is dying in prison hospital and entrusts his last wish; "find my sister and take care of her." Goro leaves as a free man with a mission, but soon finds that he might have been better off in jail.

Yet, meanwhile, Kyowakai chairman Gonda (Shinichi Chiba), Wakagashira Kudo (Hakuryu), and Shiseikai chairman Kawabata (Tatsuo Umemiya) begin moves to unify Japan’s entire yakuza world…
In 1943 Japan is facing defeat. This makes Shinkichi, a straight, selfless student-patriot, ever more restless. He can no longer stand his soft "behind-the- gun" role of munition factory worker. School-mates one after another are going to the front, where he feels he should be. The last straw is an official report of his father's death in the Battle of Attu in the Aleutian Islands. He rushes to the naval air corps training camp at Tsuchiura along with his close school-mates Naito, Yamada, Saito and Tagawa as Volunteer pilot trainees leaving his mother and sweetheart weeping and helpless.

Amid the rising tension, Kawatani (Hitoshi Ozawa)—a benefactor to Mikami-gumi lieutenant Himuro (Yasukaze Motomiya) and Tamura (Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi)—is shot. When Tamura learns the attack was carried out by the Shintokai, he infiltrates Ueda’s residence alone and carries out the assassination. At the same time, Kawabata (Tatsuo Umemiya), chairman of the Kansai Shiseikai, begins his move to crush the Mikami-gumi, standing in the way of Himuro and his men as they climb toward nationwide domination.
Hidejiro is a wandering yakuza with a ‘karashi botan’ (Chinese lion and peony) tattoo. Owing a favor to the Soda Family, he kills the boss of the rival Sakaki Family. When the Soda attacks the Sakaki and double-crosses him, with sword in hand, Hidejiro seeks brutal retribution.
The Mikasa district of Hamasaki City, Kanagawa's largest entertainment hub, is controlled by the Gensei-kai, led by the old-school yakuza Shirakawa (Koji Matoba), assistant vice-chairman. The Otomo-gumi has also allied with a security company run by former police officers in a bid to seize control of the area. Now, a three-way clash of interests is on the verge of breaking out…

Sabu and his pals hold a pauper's funeral for Sabu's mother. His brother Jiro arrives home, fresh out of jail, and Sabu pointedly states that Jiro is not invited. Jiro meanwhile is planning a big job - steal 40 million in cash and drugs, and he invites Sabu and gang to act as decoys, for 50,000 each. The sting is a success, but the double-crossing starts almost immediately. Sabu discovers how little of the take they were promised and hides the stash. Jiro and his slimy partner pressure the kids to fess up. Meanwhile, their respectable elder brother Ichiro is being leaned on by the town's big boss, whose money it was.
The widow of a murdered yakuza boss serves jail time for attacking the man she believes killed her husband. After her release, as she is shadowed by a hitman, she returns to thoughts of revenge.
