Alone in the city she is helped by Nina Tsvetnova a young and idealist police officer and together they will fight for their own survival and the survival of the people in the besieged Leningrad.
Leningrad

Leningrad, besieged by the Germans. Monuments and majestic domes of cathedrals are covered with camouflage netting, destroyed buildings, abandoned trams. Bombs and shells are raining down from the sky almost non-stop, day and night, turning the surviving houses into ruins and spreading death. The survivors, homeless people, are suffocated by hunger.
Leningrad

Vasily Muravin, 50, a teacher at the Moscow Institute of Management, is experiencing a crisis. At work, the place of the head of the department is replaced by the more pragmatic, but limited person Valentin Romanovsky. This is NOT a traditional war film, and the epic events of the battle take place almost entirely off screen. Instead, Todorovsky outlines a crude love triangle between three young people caught up in the harsh Russian winter. The stark winter settings, and the characters' struggle for survival, are what make this film one worth watching.
