It’s a classic girl-meets-boy story, in a world where the rules have fundamentally changed.

Realizing that something needs to change in life, a simple girl Sasha Gvozdikova leaves Yekaterinburg for Moscow, abandoning a boring job and a married lover. She writes short stories and dreams of getting them published, but overestimates her writing talent. Together with Sasha, two of her best friends from Yekaterinburg, Katya and Alyona, live in Moscow. The plot of the story revolves around three heroines who are trying to find themselves in metropolitan life and in relationships.

Everything changes when Zhenya meets the head of the robotics circle, Stanislav Karin, who becomes her mentor. Through interaction with robots, Zhenya learns to communicate with people, enjoys life, and most importantly, forgives and regains an old friend.

Anka's once-large family is falling apart: her younger brother was killed at school, and her own mother pretends that this did not happen, diligently trying to convince everyone around her of this. Anka's grandfather unsuccessfully struggles with progressive Alzheimer's, talking to his deceased grandson in between searching for a wiretap hidden, as it seems to him, in the house. The father, who, according to his mother's stories, is a diplomat traveling around the world, actually turns out to be an alcoholic who drank the last thing they had: an apartment. In an attempt to get justice and help her family, Anka, unbeknownst to herself, slides into the abyss of insanity so deeply that it seems there will never be a way back.
