Max Lowe is a Houston surgeon who has grown weary of the bureaucracy of American medicine. When he loses a patient on the operating table, Max impulsively decides to leave America and travel to India in the hope of finding himself. Not long after he arrives in Calcutta, Max is attacked by a group of thugs and left without money or a passport.

Arindam, a matinee idol, is going by train to collect an acting award. On the train, he is confronted by Aditi, a journalist who somewhat unwillingly starts to take his interview. Arindam, won over by Aditi's naivete, starts to disclose his past, his fears and his secrets.

The movie is about child marriage, a custom that was prevalent amongst various Indian societies. Set during British Raj in India, the movie tells the story of a village school boy Amal, who is married to a younger girl named Rajni.

Lata writes a letter to Mamata before her death and Mamata comes to probe her death and prove that Ramakanta was behind it. Tapas Roy, an investigative officer joins Ramakanta’s office. Police are suspicious that Ramakanta deals in drugs. Ramakanta owns a deserted fort that is haunted and a mysterious woman figure is seen roaming there and singing. Mamata reaches Ramakanta’s town with her other daughter Sarama, Rita’s twin. Several twists and turns reveal that Ramakanta killed Lata and carried illegal business from the deserted mansion. Sarama gets killed by Ramakanta. But the police finally managed to catch him.
