In 1161, Wanyan Liang, emperor of the Jurchen Jin Dynasty, planned to invade the Southern Song Dynasty. Owing to the harsh recruitment policy and the Jin's cruelty, people in the Central Plain found it hard to live on. Xin Qiji, aged 21, rose up in arms with villagers to fight against the Jin army and then joined a more influential voluntary army led by Geng Jing, winning victory after victory. In 1162, aiming to expel invaders and recover the lost land to realize the reunification, Xin Qiji went to the south to persuade the Song Emperor to drive the Jurchens out of the north. Successfully accomplishing his mission, Xin Qiji only to find the commander Geng Jing was killed by a traitor and the army had lost morale. Facing with Wanyan Basu's army of 50,000 soldiers, what course would Xin Qiji and his 50 loyal subordinates follow?

Set against the backdrop of the Chinese Civil War, the film tells the story of a secret agent named Lin Xi. Lin Xi, a covert operative working for the Communist side, is tasked with rescuing a fellow spy codenamed "Green Snake" who has been captured by the enemy. His mission is to help "Green Snake" deliver crucial defense plans of Jinzhou city to the People's Liberation Army outside the city, thereby supporting the assault on Jinzhou.

The servant who was guarding the funeral hall saw the coffin lid open on its own, and a wooden puppet hand reached out of the coffin, scaring everyone away. Ten years ago, Zhang Lu, the young marshal of the Dashaifu Manor, was mysteriously murdered. While guarding the wake, the servant saw the coffin lid open by itself, and a puppet hand reached out from the coffin, frightening everyone away. Meanwhile, in the inner room, the commander of the manor was quietly approached by a puppet smoking a cigarette, and he died on the spot. Since then, the manor has declined. Ten years later, a stage actor named Shi Jia obtained a rare puppet. Since the puppet came to his home, Shi Jia's girlfriend, Yu Bi, has often seen the puppet's figure in various corners of the house, although the puppet has not moved. She thought she was having hallucinations until Shi Jia was hung from the ceiling like a puppet and died mysteriously.
