Dulmuluk, an elderly man who still lives with his grandson, Dulmalik. Dulmuluk often goes to town leaving his grandchildren to help ward off the terror of ghosts. Without him realizing it, the house next door is also haunted and Dulmalik is always terrorized.

To maintain the tenuous connection with her mother, 8-year-old Christina unwittingly endangers her father, an undocumented food-delivery driver.
